Generation 2000 against total chaos (part 175)

- Posição 2004: looking at the info. Next?
- Daniela Fortes. Idiossincrasias, which means Idiosyncrasies. The written info says they are numbered from 1 to 3, and the date is 2004. Pencil on paper. Idiosyncrasies 1 measures 29.7 x 42 centimeters. Idiosyncrasies 2 measures 29.7 x 21 centimeters. Idiosyncrasies 3 measures 21 x 29.7 centimeters. As I said before, it was a bit like Graffiti Art done on pencil over white paper, and I like it. Good show!
- OK. Next?
- Júlio Rodrigues. That machine with the three-colored tape that gets captured by a small camera and shown on a TV screen with a short delay. His text reminds us this is a machine that is able to look at itself, showing its inner colors in a cycle of self-reference. So that's another way to see it, and I like it. Good show!
- OK. Next?
- Regina Marconi. Espelhos, which means Mirrors. Mixed media over stickers over cardboard, her text says. Date is 2004. 10 x 3,400 cm. It was installed on the risers of the entrance stairway to the art show. Frankly, I think it was one of the good ideas that got a little lost in the bigger picture. For instance, it went unnoticed amidst the huge mass of people going up and down the staircase, during the opening night. Was it a text? Was it a chopped up mirror? I don't have the CD, so I haven't seen the photos. She mentions that the CD is the original from Wilton Montenegro, the photographer, and that she needs it back, so I guess Wilton has it. Espelhos can also mean Risers in Portuguese, so I guess it was the mirror thing. I just remember there was something there. Good show!
- OK. Next?
- Tania Queiroz. The printed info says the date is 2004. The reinforcing bars are of 1 inch diameter. The title is Mantenha Distância (Vergalhão), which means Keep Your Distance (Reinforcing Bar). It also says the photos are by Luciano Mattos Bogado. As I said before, it was silent architectural menace, and I like it. Good show!
- OK. Next?
- Rosa Oliveira. That painting that looks like a test pattern card for a TV station that only shows shades of blue, gray and black. Her written note says the date is 2004, and that it is from the Brise-Soleil series. 120 x 210 centimeters, acrylic on canvas. Good show!
